President Bush announced today that he has a plan to counteract Global Warming (although he still calls it Climate Change (and I still call it a resource black hole)). Bush plans to meet with countries that emit the most greenhouse gases, set a common goal, and then have the nations individually develop their own strategies to meet that goal. In other words, Bush is planning to plan on a strategy.
Wouldn't the goal just be to emit less greenhouse gases? Maybe I'm over simplifying things, but I think this less of our nation's resources would be wasted if we skipped the meeting and just went right in to implementing a strategy. Of course, ultimately the strategy will rely on the entire nation changing the way it currently lives (i.e. consuming, traveling, cooling your house, etc.) and I doubt most of us are ready to face that reality.
Why is it that both Democrat and Republican parties will spend so much of our money and time on discussing what this climate change is or isn't? Can't we just all agree that we should be good stewards of this planet because it is basically a non-renewable resource?
Welcome to my website.
I like to write humorously about my life as a dad, a husband, having a child with autism, and other unrelated non-sequitors. So that pretty much covers everything. Hope that inspires you to, you know, subscribe.
My life has been very hectic and busy (in a good way!) since the baby was born. So I apologize to my loyal (or at least frequent) readers for my lack of insight on the most current pop culture events (Lindsay Lohan, Rosie quits). Please enjoy this video of comedian Bob Bledsoe as a token of my appreciation and as a symbol of my sincerest apologies for being a lazy blogger.

Joy Behar shares her hatred for President Bush and doesn't understand why the rest of America doesn't care more about impeaching him. Well, Joy, it looks like you need to read up on your early 2nd century Roman poetry. There are only two things people care about anymore - bread and circuses.
Later in the clip below, Rosie gets mad (again (and probably more hungry)) at an old dispute between herself and Elisabeth Hasselbeck (who tries to murder them all with her dialog.)

Thisislondon.co.uk is reporting that Paris Hilton was seen in Los Angeles carrying a bible along with a copy of Eckhart Tolle's, "The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment." Many are speculating whether Hilton is sincerely looking for a life change or simply trying to impress a judge to get less (or no) time in jail.
I say good for her. Hilton is not a stupid girl. She's more than aware that she will be photographed wherever she turns up and she knows how the media likes to portray her. I don't know with any more certainty than the next guy, but I think she is looking for something in her life that she feels she doesn't have. Maybe holding those books out in public was a way for Hilton to tell the world that she wants to be different without really speaking out.
My hope for her is that she would take the opportunity (meaning her upcoming free time in jail) to read those books and get a taste of what a deeper more fulfilling life could be.
Here is a trailer for a documentary I am excited to check out. Its called, "Kyle Cease: Comedy 101" and is directed by Kevin Cease (close genetic ties to Kyle's parents (his brother)). Al Gore used "An Inconvenient Truth" to attempt to teach us how to save the world from Global Warming but Cease (the Kevin one) will use his documentary to show the world that sometimes comedians have to do radio shows. And sometimes on those radio shows, large hairy grown men have their diapers changed.

UPDATE: The radio show/podcast is scheduled for June 23 at 10pm over at BlogTalkRadio. That will be pacific standard time (-8 GMT for nerds) so if you can listen live, the podcast will be available the following day.
I'm planning my next radio gig for BlogTalkRadio.com (slash Chaseblogger) and I've decided to focus my attention on "The Secret." Before "Secret" fans and fanatics alike get up in arms, let me put them at ease.
I have not yet read this book or viewed the DVD (which I still don't know if it accompanies the book, is the same as the book, or what) but what I have heard about it, and the excerpts I have read online have stricken me as remarkably poignant and relevant to this day and age. While I am a Christian, I feel it is important to affirm and claim truth wherever I encounter it. Just because ways of thinking or behaving that can improve your life are not being read directly out of the Bible, does not automatically mean it is untrue or not from God.
If something is to be considered a universal truth, it must be true for EVERYONE who applies it to their life. To say that the Bible is filled with these universal truths but then shoot them down anytime they occur somewhere outside of scripture frazzles my mind. So I am going to thoroughly read this book that others have directly shared with me as life changing for them and highlight where and why I find these truths in this book. While I'm sure I will have some critical thinking on the subject as well, that will not be intent of this show. Stay tuned for show times or the podcast when it becomes available.

The happy man pictured above is Stephen Kerr. He is a pastor at the Gig Harbor Church of the Nazarene, in Gig Harbor, WA. Kerr has confessed to his church body and the Pierce Country Sherrif's Department to raping a 7-year old girl. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail and is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
I believe that I am called to forgive those who ask me for forgiveness. Honestly, I find it very difficult to do this. I shouldn't, I'm a Christian. I'm expected to forgive as easily as I'm expected to read the bible daily (. . .uhm.) But forgiveness is a tough business. At least for me it is. To really forgive someone it means you are letting go of the hurt you feel. The anger, pain, resentment, all that junk. It means you are committed to making a continual effort not to bring up whatever that offense may have been to anyone ever again. You are truly going to let it go. Forgiveness means so much more than simply telling someone that you have.
When anyone (let alone a 'man of god') violates a child in this way, how do I forgive that person? To be completely honest, I don't know that I can and I'm not even remotely connected to the girl he attacked. I'm not so sure that we are strong enough or loving enough to be capable of that kind of forgiveness. But I strive to be one day.

The news that Paris Hilton will be spending 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation (charges stemming from drunk driving, driving on a suspended liscence, etc) was released late on Friday. This means that the entertainment magazines and the t.v. shows like them have not unleashed their usual massive over-coverage.
People Magazine's website has issued a story that reveals the emotion and anger of both Paris' parents. The anger is not directed at the dangerous behavior of their daughter and its possibly lethal consequences however, it is hostly pointed toward the prosecutor and judge.
A red in the face Kathy Hilton told the prosecutor that he is "pathetic" and that the judge, "made up his mind before he even came in today. If it were anyone else, this would've never had happened."
Really Kathy? I think it could easily be argued that had your daughter not driven a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (an action that not only puts her own life in risk, but everyone around her) her license would never have been suspended and she would not have been caught several times violation her probation, therefor never ending up in court and facing jail time. No Kathy, you're right. It's the judge's fault.
I would like to know why Paris' folks haven't made any public outcry when first learning of their daughter's disgusting behavior (not the sex tapes, the drunk driving.) I think this is a rare insight as to how these two parents reared their children. It is so important as parents to allow your children to suffer consequences. Without them, a child will never learn how to foresee possible outcomes of the decisions they make in life.
Paris will be forced to handle this situation one of two ways. She can either choose to learn from it and allow her character to deepen or she can choose to feel victimized and deny responsibility for her actions. The path she chooses will be a direct reflection of how well her parents prepared her for a life experience such as this.

ETonline.com has just posted a story related to a release of video footage of a drunken David Hasselhof alledgedly taken by his 16 year old daughter. While ETonline.com finds it suitable to print the name of minors in their reporting, I will not. They also find it acceptable to discuss the details of this girls concern and fear for her father's health and well being. At what point did we become such a heartless society that we see nothing wrong with prodding deep into the personal lives of celebrities children?
Shame on you ET.

Time Magazine is gearing up to release their annually anticipated Top 100 Most Influential People list. The list hits stands on Friday and most notably about the list is the absence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
Maybe it was a tough year to decide who makes the cut; I've never had to do it. I'm sure there were TONS of people doing some EXTREME influencing. With names like Sacha Baron Cohen, Rosie O'Donnell, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake, Tyra Banks, Cate Blanchett, America Ferrera, Tina Fey, John Mayer, Brian Williams, Michael J. Fox, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller, the President is going to have to step up his game. Especially if he want to out influence the likes of Borat. I can't imagine how muh worse off (or better) the world would be if not for his "Cultural Learnings for Make Benefit of Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan." And the only people Tyra Banks is influencing is the writing staff at E!'s "The Soup."
