Welcome to my website.

I like to write humorously about my life as a dad, a husband, having a child with autism, and other unrelated non-sequitors. So that pretty much covers everything. Hope that inspires you to, you know, subscribe.

Spanking Spears, Cruising for aliens, Edwards appealing to bigot demographic

I'm sure there was more I could list but I just didn't have the time today. Enjoy these few articles and feel free comment.

  • Is Britney Spears hitting her kids? - According to some court papers released, it sounds like she might be. “She’s got a lot on her plate,” a friend to Spears said. “But to accuse her of hitting her kids is far-fetched. She would do anything for those babies and would give her own life in a heartbeat to make sure they have a good life.” I have a suggestion - could Britney Spears go ahead and give her life up for her kids?
  • Tom Cruise is building a $10 million bunker - to hide from aliens.
  • John Edwards, racist? - ". . . pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.” Recent studies actually show that 864,000 young African-American males are in college and 802,000 of African-American males are in jail. This means that more of them are in college than in jail. More alarming to Edwards though - there are 1,666,000 young African-American males in the U.S.

A nod to another blog: Pundit Fight!

It's been awhile since I've posted one of these, but I honestly haven't found anything extraordinary in my web travels across the blogosphere. That is, until today. Pundit Fight (and its Myspace counter-part) is a really cool idea. The author of the site and created animated characters based on real life media pundits from both the Democratic and Republican parties and mixed the magic and excitement of the professional wrestling world. The basic idea is that each character has her or her own special attributes, weaknesses and special moves.

Similar to wrestling, pundits will have a main persona. This would be either the "Heel"(villian), or the "Face" (good guy.) Also, Each of the pundits has three main attributes:

  • Pop - how well loved the pundit is.
  • Heat - how much negative exposure the pundit gets.
  • Charm - how much does he appeal to both the Left and Right sides.
My favorite pundit is Stephen Colbert (of course) so I will use him as my example.

My question is whether or not these characters will be available to show off on our own sites and if there will be a point system available so that we can see how our favorite pundit is comparing to others. New Fantasy League opportunity. . .?

Protesting Planned Parenthood ( the three P's of being retarded)

4

| By : Chase Roper | In :

Anti-Abortion radicals consistantly protest openings of new Planned Parenthood centers. Am I to believe that the employees (or volunteers?) at Planned Parenthood wake up each morning and say to themselves, "Hey, I hope I help a lot of women get abortions today?" I doubt that's the case. I think the truth is, that while Planned Parenthood may freely point to abortion as an option, and its ok to disagree with that, they are also providing birth control to a vast majority of men and women who may otherwise have never used it.

Planned Parenthood isn't causing women to have abortions. Couples having unprotected sex and getting an unplanned pregnancy is what causes women to seek counsel and then choose to have the abortion (and some times it may actually be severe pressure from parents, family, or a boyfriend, etc.) Standing outside a building and announcing that you are opposed to abortion is choosing to do nothing about the real issue at hand. Why not offer helpful alternatives for the women facing these situations rather than shame them? Why not become actively involved in a solution instead of standing on the side line and yelling?

I can respect that people feel morally obligated to oppose abortion (and to a degree, I'm with you) but what I can't respect is a complete lack of any attempt to be compassionate to ALL people involved.

Grow up.

Time to upgrade . . . to Tampax Cardboard?

0

| By : Chase Roper | In : , , ,

Back when I worked in retail/drug store management, I had to know what my product selection was for every department. So I remember that we had all kinds of fem hygiene things (tampons) that had describing add-on words like Kotex Satin, Maxi Pearls, you know? Or something Silk. Styles of tampons that sounded like they would be really comfortable. But last night I saw this commercial that told women its "time to upgrade to. . .Tampax Cardboard."

Cardboard? Really? I realize that I don't have a vagina so I don't understand what it would feel like. But I'm pretty sure that if I did, I wouldn't be wanting to put cardboard in it.

You know what I would want to put in there? My wallet. I hate having my wallet in my back pocket. If I had my own vagina, I would keep my wallet in it.

I could see trying to use my visa quick pay card at the store as being a bit of a hassle though. But I think its definately time to upgrade to a vagina.

Here are your links for the weekend. . .you know you want them

Goldmans publish book to punish O.J.?

2

| By : Chase Roper | In :

Remember when I wrote about the Goldman's releasing O.J.'s book, "If I Did It?" Well, I did. The post was called, Goldman's to publish Simpson book of murder, and in it I questioned the motives behind such a character damning move as that. Finally, the Goldmans have heard my cries and given me an answer via Oprah. The official reason. . . to punish O.J. Simpson.

I was happy to hear Oprah ask tell these people that she will not purchase or read this book and also asked them exactly what I wanted to. Don't you think this is blood money?

“It’s sending him a message,” Kim Goldman said. “He put hours putting together this confession about how he killed Ron and Nicole, and he worked hard thinking he was going to make millions off of it. And we snatched it right out from under him.”

So are they saying that they are punishing him by making him waste his time? Oprah originally wasn't going to do the show until Nichole Brown's sister, who is still critical of the book, agreed to do the show. At the last minute, she decided not to share the stage with the Goldman's. Can you blame her? Back when this book was O.J.'s project, Ron Goldman thought it was despicable. How do they feel about their own actions?

“It brings a certain level of satisfaction that we’ve taken something from him,” says Ron Goldman. “I think it also is a recognition for him to know forevermore that we’re going to be after him ... to punish him for what he’s done, to get some piece of justice.”

Justice for the Goldman's is equivalent to dollar signs and lots of zeros. My brain believes monetary justice is a good thing and that this family deserves to be given something for their loss but my gut says its bad.

I want to know what you all think. Should the Goldmans have published this work?

Sex day in Russia province

2

| By : Chase Roper | In :

The Russian province of Ulyanovsk has taken the Wednesday Hump-day title seriously. In an effort to bolster the dwindling Russian birthrate, the provincial governor officially urged couples to skip work today to make love instead. It gets better. Any couple who actually gives birth 9 months from this date will be eligible for a prize!

All I would like to do with this post today is announce my official plea to rest of the United States, to please stop having babies for a couple years. Hopefully, we too can enjoy in the true Wednesday Hump-Day festivities.

2008 candidates supporting Scientology based tax proposal

1

John McCain, Fred Thompson, as well as second-tier presidential candidates like Mike Huckabee, are all in favor of the Fair Tax proposal. For those of you who aren't aware of what the Fair Tax policy is (like I wasn't) let me briefly explain with a short history lesson on The Church of Scientology.

Way back in the day, a man named L. Ron Hubbard wanted his group, The Church of Scientology, to be declared a religion. The IRS would not grant him that status and thus began an decades long war between Scientology and the Internal Revenue Service. This war even included Scientology breaking into IRS offices to steal documents and hiring private investigators to obtain personal information of individual IRS employees. This war led to the eventual creation of a Scientology off-shoot organization called, Citizens for an Alternative Tax System. They proposed a national retail sales tax that would replace the Federal Income Tax and make the IRS useless. This new Fair Tax proposal idea is almost identical to Scientology's proposed NRST.

When Bruce Bartlett from CBS News Online questioned the similarities at a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, he immediately labeled a smear artist. Sounds like typical Scientology methods to me. I consider myself the kind of voter who looks at the issues and consider anyone candidate who buys into this regurgitated Hubbardistic tax plan a major issue.

'Colbert Report' doesn't make Time's 100 Best TV Shows list

0

| By : Chase Roper | In : , , ,

What do, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Beavis and Butthead, and Friends all have in common? They all made the list of Time's 100 Best TV Shows. I couldn't help but notice that while Comedy's Central's, The Daily Show, made the top list, The Colbert Report, of the same network did not. Hey Time, what's the deal?

How could Colbert not make that list!? Stephen Colbert can single handedly cause the lock down of entire Wikipedia entries, put into movement a nation of people to replace pages of dictionaries in public libraries, boost book sales for authors, get his own ice cream flavor, and increase politicians' polling figures. While I'm at it, how does a show like the British version of "The Office" make the list over my favorite American fake news commentator?

Answer: Because Time Magazine hates Stephen Colbert and America. Spread this post around and comment below to show your love and support for the Colbert Nation!

Kyle Cease, the secret to making it as an artist

0

| By : Chase Roper | In : ,

Kyle Cease (Comedy Central, Not Another Teen Movie) wrote a very inspirational and well received blog Friday night for anyone trying to achieve big goals in their life. If you are trying to "make it" as a writer, a performer, a comic, or anything you might be struggling with getting started - this blog is for you. Below is a excerpt and a link to the original post. Leave Kyle a comment and let him know what you think. Tell him Chase sent you.

A while ago, I wrote a blog about getting out of anxieties. This blog is archived in past blogs entitled "My deal to all of my fans."

The responses I received from this article were amazing. I found those
weeks that my cd sales were the highest they had ever been and I had a
crazily growing fan base. Also that week, thanks to your response to
the blog, I made it into the top 20 of comedy centrals 100 best half hour
specials of all time. It also prompted me to get my own one hour
special, which even though I wasn't writing to get my own rewards, I
did learn and realize several important messages.

They are as follows.....

1. There is one difference between being successful as an artist or not. I used to believe it was the talent level that you are born with.

I now know this is not the case. The true difference is only having the discipline to "start" creating. That is it. Have you ever decided you would start a diet, or a yoga program, or
write a book, or create a charity, or anything else on this planet that would take your own creations, and ideas?

Now here comes the difference......did you complete every one of these endeavors that you though of??

If you answered yes, then you are happy and a millionaire and successful in your positive relationship and I am not talking to you. If you are everyone else, then I have great news for you. Literally taking a blind faith action is the difference. Actually just
starting.

No matter what. . .
